Teams participating in the McDonalds Ballarat Football Netball League will not be required for the 2020 season.

In an announcement on the BFNL website, the competition was cancelled due the current coronavirus pandemic.

Melton and Melton South both play in the league along with 9 other teams including teams from Bacchus Marsh & Darley and Ballarat.

Sunbury also competes in the same completion and is an area authorities are watching closely due to outbreaks of coronavirus.

A statement on the BFNL website read: “The health and safety of the Ballarat FNL players, supporters, members and volunteers is of the highest priority to the organisation and it supports the decision by the State Government to contain the spread of COVID-19.

“The Ballarat FNL would like to thank the many supporters who have been patient while we explored every opportunity to compete in 2020. We look forward to a sound and strong 2021 Premiership season.”
